Pregnancy FAQ
We're so excited to share this journey with you. Here are a few notes to help keep everyone informed.
When is the baby due?
The baby is due at the end of October. We are navigating this process thoughtfully and will share meaningful updates and milestones as we receive them. If you haven't heard from us, everything is progressing normally.
What can you tell us about the surrogate?
We are working with an experienced person supported by a great medical team. Out of respect for her privacy, we keep personal details private and trust her to manage day-to-day decisions with her doctors.
Why are you going to Mexico?
Our surrogate and medical team are based in Mexico City. We will be there for 2–3 months around the birth to meet the baby, complete legal paperwork, and finalize everything needed to return home safely.
Can we visit you in Mexico City?
We are keeping that time just for us to bond as a family and settle in with the baby. We look forward to visits once we are home and have had time to adjust and manage the logistics of our return.
How can we help and support you?
You can support us by contributing to our registry, sharing our podcast 'Waiting With Love.' Your kindness and trust truly mean the world to us right now.
I thought surrogate pregnancies are often multiples - are you sure you're not having twins?
Historically, this was very true. With advancements in IVF and surrogacy protocols, the practice of transferring two embryo's at a time has been phased out by our clinic, leaving the only opportunity for multiples identical twins, which are very rare. With that in mind, we have confirmed via ultrasound there is just one, perfect little boy.
Is the surrogate the biological mother of the baby?
Inline with standard gestational surrogacy protocols, the surrogate is not biologically related to the baby. The babies egg was donated by different woman, who is Mexican. So baby will be an all-North American baby, with Canadian, American and Mexican heritage.
